Expert Chernenko: It is necessary to check access rights of installed applications
Mobile applications are convenient and greatly simplify a person’s life, but they can also be dangerous for the user. Information security expert Alexander Chernenko told the Prime agency how to recognize a threat and protect your data.
He explained that dangerous mobile applications can be divided into five types: “grayware”, those that request too many accesses and administrator rights, those that use special features, and phishing ones.
Chernenko told Russian users that in each specific case it is important to evaluate the developer’s reputation and check security certificates. Applications should only be downloaded from official stores or company websites. When installing on a smartphone, it is important to use antivirus software, and after that, check the access rights of the installed applications.
If a dangerous application has nevertheless got into the smartphone, it should be immediately deleted, Internet access should be disabled and the smartphone should be put into safe mode. To do this, you need to use an antivirus, and if you can’t clean it, you can reset the phone to factory settings, Chernenko summed up.
Earlier, expert Dmitry Sakov said that push-button phones can pose a threat to the security of user data. According to him, smartphones have more advanced security systems than push-button phones. Also, it is impossible to install an antivirus program on old devices, unlike modern ones, Sakov pointed out.
