iMore: iPhone to offer search engine of choice due to Google monopoly recognition
The Apple-Google deal concerning search engines will suffer due to the latter being declared a monopolist, iMore reports.
Earlier, the federal court for the District of Columbia recognized the American IT giant as a monopolist in the search engine market. According to iMore journalists, Google has been paying Apple billions of dollars for years to have its system installed on the iPhone as the default search engine.
Experts noted that after Google is recognized as a monopolist, much will change. They predicted that when setting up an iPhone for the first time, users will immediately be asked to choose a search engine. Journalists noted that users have this option now, but many of them do not change Google for an alternative option.
As an example, the media authors cited the situation with browsers in the European Union (EU). Thus, when setting up new Apple smartphones in the EU, the user will be asked to set a default browser. In conclusion, the journalists allowed that Google will appeal the decision to recognize its monopoly in the search engine market.
Earlier, Reuters sources reported that Apple’s artificial intelligence (AI) was trained on Google processors, allowing Tim Cook’s corporation to create more advanced AI models than it had expected.
