Logitech Offers Eternal Computer Mouse with Subscription
American company Logitech has announced the release of an “eternal” computer mouse. This was reported by The Verge.
Speaking on The Verge Decoder podcast, CEO Hanneke Faber announced plans to create a computer mouse that won’t need to be replaced for years or decades. According to her, the “eternal” mouse will receive current updates and new features via a paid subscription.
“Why would a user change their mouse or keyboard if it’s of fantastic quality and well-designed?” Faber asked. According to the Logitech executive, the idea of a computer manipulator that could last for decades would have a positive impact on reducing waste. At the same time, Hanneke Faber said that Logitech intends to halve its carbon emissions by 2031.
Faber did not disclose the timing of the appearance of such a mouse and did not report its price. However, according to her, a regular computer mouse costs about $26, or about 2.2 thousand rubles. The Verge journalists suggested that Logitech could compensate for the low cost of the device through a paid subscription service.
In mid-April, Logitech introduced a computer mouse with a button to call a chat bot. The mouse costs $50, or about 4.3 thousand rubles.
