Apple is unlikely to sell more than 500,000 Vision Pro glasses by the end of 2024, Bloomberg reports.
The agency’s journalists cited a report by International Data Corporation (IDC), according to which Apple sold only about 100,000 units of augmented reality headsets in a whole quarter. According to experts, sales of the device in the US market fell by 75 percent in the new quarter. In the United States, Apple Vision Pro was priced at a minimum of $3,500, or about 305,000 rubles.
The sharp decline in sales was caused by a loss of interest in the device, which is why the glasses failed on the market. According to IDC analysts, the release of Vision Pro on the international market will partially correct the situation, but the corporation is unlikely to sell more than 500 thousand devices by the end of the year.
“The success of Vision Pro, regardless of its price, will ultimately depend on the content available,” said Francisco Geronimo, vice president of IDC. According to the specialist, it is extremely important for the company to increase the share of local content – regional applications and services.
In late June, Apple began selling the Vision Pro headset outside the United States. The augmented and virtual reality device began selling in China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.
