Smartphones will no longer be made of leather

Smartphone manufacturers will gradually abandon the use of artificial leather. This was announced on Weibo by a well-known insider under the nickname Digital Chat Station.

According to the expert, the trend of producing devices with a leather-trimmed back panel will end. The author noted that this is due to the unsatisfactory quality of the material and the difficulties in processing it.

Some smartphone models on the market have a back panel finished with eco-leather. The synthetic material began to be used in flagships, as it resembles genuine leather and is pleasant to the touch. According to Digital Chat Station, phone manufacturers will stop using synthetic leather, as it is, among other things, short-lived.

Instead, smartphones will have a glass or plastic back panel. Sometimes manufacturers will use ceramics. According to the insider’s forecast, eco-leather will be found in phones for another one or two years, and then will remain only in rare inexpensive devices.

At the end of April, it became known that Apple had stopped producing problematic eco-leather cases for iPhones and other gadgets. Previously, users of the accessories had criticized them for their low quality.
