SmartPrix: Xiaomi smartphones will add a button to disable all advertising
Xiaomi Corporation will allow users of its smartphones to disable advertising on their devices, SmartPrix reports.
The new feature was discovered in an early build of HyperOS, a system shell for Android used in Xiaomi devices. Previously, it was called MIUI. In the system settings, it will be possible to disable all advertising with one button. According to journalists, the owner of the gadget will only need to switch the “Advertisement in system applications” switch to the inactive position.
Advertising in Xiaomi devices, including smartphones, is a feature of the Chinese corporation’s business model. SmartPrix experts explained that the company keeps prices for its devices low, but makes money by showing users advertising.
Currently, to disable the built-in advertising in Xiaomi smartphones, you need to delete several settings and system applications. “If this new switch button is implemented, it will significantly simplify this process,” the media authors noted. The timing of the rollout of the new feature is not disclosed.
In June, Canalys analysts reported that Apple retained its leading position in the global premium smartphone market. In China, the most popular premium phones were those from Apple, Huawei, and Xiaomi.
