Appfigures: smartphones turned out to be not intended for high-budget games
Top games released on smartphones are not popular, unlike their counterparts on consoles and PCs. This was reported by GSM Arena with reference to the Appfigures report.
The company’s report states that users are not interested in big-budget games coming to smartphones. According to experts, we are talking about AAA titles (triple-A) – video games in which a lot of money is invested in the development and promotion.
Using the iOS platform as an example, Appfigures analysts showed that the release of all major games on iPhone and iPad failed. Thus, Assassin’s Creed Mirage from Ubisoft was downloaded 120 thousand times, but less than three thousand users paid for the full version. Resident Evil 4 was downloaded by 357 thousand users in six months, but only seven thousand smartphone owners purchased the game.
According to analysts, mobile device owners prefer simple and casual games. This is due to the fact that AAA games require a powerful smartphone. Also, a small phone screen and touch controls, which are less convenient than physical ones, prevent full immersion in the video game process.

The material states that smartphone manufacturers are initiating porting AAA titles to their devices only to advertise powerful equipment. According to the report’s authors, Apple paid game studios to port their products to the iPhone.
Previously, well-known insider Jeff Grubb stated that in the foreseeable future, PlayStation 5 consoles will be able to run old games released for PlayStation 3. However, only a limited number of games will be available on the consoles.
