ArsTechnica: Starlink terminals have dropped in price by half, to $300
SpaceX Corporation has begun selling terminals for connecting to the Starink satellite Internet network at a discount. The publication ArsTechnica drew attention to this.
The discount applies to the purchase of a Starlink terminal in the USA. The starting price for the kit is now $499. However, in 28 states, the terminals have an additional discount, allowing them to be purchased for $299. At the same time, the previously retail price of the kit was $599 – SpaceX installed it in March 2022.
Thus, in a number of states, equipment for connecting Starlink has fallen in price by half. The company explained that the most affordable price is set in those regions where there is good network capacity. States where Starlink can be purchased for $299 include Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, New York and others.
ArsTechnica journalists recalled that in regions with good bandwidth, the cost of Internet access from Elon Musk’s company is $90. In states with data connectivity issues, subscription costs $120.
Previously, SpaceX Corporation announced its intention to launch future satellites of the Starlink constellation closer to Earth – at an altitude of 350 instead of 550 kilometers. According to the head of the company, Elon Musk, this will reduce the delay in signal transmission.
