Canalys: Apple retained its leadership share in the premium smartphone market – 60 percent
Apple has maintained its leading position in the global premium smartphone market. This was reported by Huawei Central with reference to a Canalys report.
The company’s analysts classify such phones as devices costing more than $600, or about 53 thousand rubles. The iPhone maker, which led the market in the first quarter of 2024, gained a 60 percent share. Samsung remained in second position with a share of 25 percent, and Huawei, which received a share of 6 percent, was in third position.
In the Chinese market, which is extremely important for global gadget makers, Apple also took first place with a share of 54 percent. Local corporations Huawei and Xiaomi remained in second and third positions – their shares were 26 and 6 percent, respectively.
Analysts at Canalys estimate that 1.18 billion smartphones will be shipped to the market in 2024. According to the long-term forecast of experts, by 2028 the share of 5G devices among premium gadgets will be 86 percent.
Earlier, IDC analysts said that in the first quarter of 2024, the market for wearable devices – smart watches, headphones and other gadgets – grew by 8.8 percent. There is a trend in the market towards cheaper devices.
