9to5Mac: Apple will stop repairing microcracks on the iPhone screen for free

Apple will no longer provide free services for iPhone and Apple Watch. This became known to the publication 9to5Mac.

According to media journalists, previously the company’s service centers repaired any types of cracks that appeared on the screens of smartphones and smartwatches – this was covered by the standard warranty. Starting in June, Apple will no longer provide free repair services for microcracks on the screen of an iPhone or Apple Watch.

The company has already updated the rules of service in Apple Stores and authorized service centers. Thus, in the event of microcracks that do not significantly interfere with the use of the device, Apple will force the owner of the gadget to pay for repairs.

Media journalists clarified that Apple had previously assessed devices that were sent for warranty repairs quite strictly. So, if, in addition to cracks on the case of a smartphone or watch, there are traces of physical impact, then the company’s specialists could refuse service. Finally, 9to5Mac noted that Apple is still committed to fixing cracks on iPad and Mac displays for free.

At the beginning of summer, Apple declared the iPhone 5s, released in 2013, obsolete. The device turned out to be the first Apple smartphone to receive a Touch ID fingerprint scanner and a 64-bit A7 chip.
