IBA President Kremlev proposed to forcefully remove Thomas Bach from the post of head of the IOC
The President of the International Boxing Association (IBA), Russian Umar Kremlev, criticized the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach. His words are quoted by Sportbox.
“He will be thrown out soon. The same people who elected him. We need to put an end to this issue and throw it out by force,” the Kremlev suggested. He said that the head of the IOC should be chosen by countries, which, in his opinion, would be fair and democratic.
In June 2023, IOC Director General Christophe de Kepper stated that the organization had decided to withdraw recognition of the IBA. After this, the IOC announced that it would ban athletes from national federations that are members of the IBA from participating in the 2028 Olympics.
On October 5, 2022, the IBA admitted athletes from Russia and Belarus to international competitions under the auspices of the organization. Boxers will perform under national flags, and if they win, the national anthem will be played.
