Samsung Galaxy A51, A41 and M01 smartphones will no longer receive updates
The South Korean corporation Samsung has declared a number of branded smartphones obsolete. The publication PhoneArena became aware of this.
Support for the Samsung Galaxy A51, Galaxy A41 and Galaxy M01 will end in 2024. These are three inexpensive smartphones that were released in 2020. End of support means that devices will no longer receive OS updates and security patches.
According to journalists, in theory, using outdated devices after the end of support may be unsafe. Samsung engineers will no longer send patches to devices that eliminate current threats.
The material states that Samsung initially promised that the Galaxy A51, Galaxy A41 and Galaxy M01 would receive security patches for four years. Now the company has the right not to serve device owners.
PhoneArena journalists recalled that in March 2024, Samsung introduced an inexpensive Galaxy A55 phone. The device, unlike the brand’s earlier devices, received four years of Android updates and five years of support with security patches.
Earlier, TechCrunch journalists found that Apple had stopped carefully disassembling old iPhones for parts. According to the observations of media authors, the company is now using robots to destroy used smartphones and then send them for melting down.
