Sony introduced PlayStation VR 2 adapter for PC for $60

Sony Corporation has introduced an adapter for the PlayStation VR 2 headset for PC. This is reported on the company’s website.

The adapter allows you to connect a virtual reality headset to your computer and run VR games. Thus, Sony actually allowed the use of its equipment to run titles available on SteamVR. Previously, PS VR2 owners could only play games that were designed for virtual reality headsets.

The accessory was valued at 60 dollars or 60 euros – depending on the region – or about 5.5 thousand rubles. Sales of the device will begin on August 7.

To connect the headset to your computer, you need a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. In the future, the user will need to download the PlayStation VR2 and SteamVR applications from Steam. However, when using VR glasses from a PC on the PlayStation VR 2, a number of headset functions will not be available – HDR, eye tracking, haptic communication, adaptive triggers.

A supported computer must be running Windows 10 or 11, have an Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 processor or newer, 8 gigabytes of RAM, and a modern graphics card.

In March, it became known that the Japanese corporation Sony had suspended further production of the PlayStation VR 2 virtual reality headset. Bloomberg analysts associated this step with a drop in demand for a device worth $550, or about 49 thousand rubles.
