Nvidia shocks. It has developed new AI chips. She needed surprisingly little time for this

Nvidia showed off AI chips called “Blackwell” in March. Only three months have passed and the company has already presented a new generation of its microprocessors.

Nvidia dominates the AI (artificial intelligence) chip market with its powerful microprocessors. On Sunday, the company presented their new generation, the latest chip architecture was named “Ruby”. It was presented only a few months after Nvidia showed “Blackwell” processors, which are still in production and will reach the first customers later in 2024 – “Rubin”, however, will hit the market only in 2026,

Nvidia presented “Rubin” chips. Premiere in 2 years

“Rubin” chips will be equipped with a new graphics system based on image processing technology, which is key in training and running AI models. The new chips will also be equipped with a central processor called “Vera”, but the details are not known here.

“Today we are on the cusp of a major change in computing,” Huang said on Sunday. “Through our innovations in artificial intelligence and compute acceleration, we are pushing the boundaries of what is possible and powering the next wave of technological progress,” concluded the Nvidia CEO.

Nvidia is leading the way in racing AI. But it accelerates anyway

The announcement of the “Rubin” architecture means that the already fast-moving AI market will accelerate even further. Previously, Nvidia announced that it would release new chips at two-year intervals. But the company’s president, Jensen Huang, declared during Sunday’s presentation in Taipei that new microprocessors will appear every year. CNBC notes that the barely three-month interval between “Blackwell” and “Rubin” perfectly illustrates how crazy the race for supremacy in the world of AI chips has become.

For now, in terms of hardware, Nvidia will leave its competition – mainly Intel and AMD – far behind. As much as 80 percent The AI chip market belongs to Nvdia. And this is reflected in the company’s results.
