Acer introduces bacteria-resistant computers. This is reported by the ArsTechnica edition.
The line of PCs from the manufacturer includes devices that have a special coating of Antimicrobial 360 Design on their surface. It covers the outer parts of the device and prevents the growth of bacteria. Silver ions act as an active component, which inactivate fragments of microbes – DNA, membrane protein, enzymes or intracellular cofactors.
The company’s report says the development is certified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (AOOC). According to research, the technology can kill up to 99.9 percent of bacteria. Also in the design of the released computers, Corning Gorilla Glass is used, coated with silver ions.
In particular, the series of new computers includes the Enduro Urban N3 laptop, priced at $ 850, and the Enduro Urban T3 tablet, which will be available in the market for $ 300. The company also introduced the Acer VE246Q monitor, which is called the only such device on the market with a protective coating.
Acer first introduced antimicrobial gadgets in 2020. The company said the technology will eventually expand to other product lines.
