Maciej Korowaj: “Shield East” is intended to raise the costs of Russian aggression against Poland
In mid-May, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the launch of the “East Shield” program. – It will be a shield that will protect us against attacks from the East, and its main task will be to deter the enemy. “Shield East”, i.e. a system of fortifications and fortifications and modernization of 400 km of the border with Russia and Belarus. This will be a strategy to push the war away from our borders, Tusk explained.
Reserve Lt. Col. Maciej Korowaj pointed out that Poland has a significant delay in this matter. He recalled that Russia has been developing offensive capabilities in cooperation with Belarus since around 2005. The shield is intended to detect threats and increase the costs of Russian aggression against Poland, our interlocutor said.
Korowaj also noted that after the announcement of plans to build the “East Shield” there was “intensification of activities on the border related to provocations against soldiers and the Border Guard.” In his opinion, the incidents at the border were related to the announcements regarding the new project. – There is no coincidence in such situations – emphasized Maciej Korowaj.
