iFixit: the new iPad Air has a large battery and low repairability

iFixit specialists assessed the repairability of the new Apple iPad Air tablet. They talked about this in a video on the company’s YouTube channel.

The iFixit project studies the design of gadgets and writes instructions for repairing them. When evaluating the iPad Air, they noted that the tablet was extremely difficult to disassemble – for this they had to use suction cups and other special tools. At the same time, it is quite easy to damage the fragile display of the device: for example, if you carelessly pull the lower part of the front panel.

When the authors got to the insides of the iPad Air, they noticed that the model received a new front camera design and magnets for attaching the Apple Pencil Pro stylus. In the video, experts also showed the updated large battery of the device.

The authors of iFixit gave the iPad Air 3 out of 10 points in the repairability rating. Enthusiasts noted that the device is very difficult to disassemble and repair. In conclusion, experts sarcastically said that Apple will not be able to become a carbon-neutral corporation by 2030, as it plans, if the company continues to produce devices that cannot be repaired.

On May 7, Apple held a presentation dedicated to the iPad Pro and Air tablets. The new Pro and Air tablets are priced at a minimum of $999 and $599, respectively.
