Increase in price of Android smartphones predicted

Manufacturers of Android smartphones will raise prices for their products. Digital Trends reports this.

Media journalists referred to a report by the famous Chinese blogger Digital Chat Station. According to him, by the end of 2024, many new smartphones will be more expensive than current models. The specialist connected this with the release of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, a processor that will be used in many flagship models.

The new chip will be noticeably more expensive to produce than the previous one. This is likely due to the fact that it will be created using a three-nanometer process technology. According to journalists, the power of devices will increase noticeably, but phones will inevitably become more expensive. Currently, the flagship iPhone 15 is equipped with three-nanometer processors.

The material says that modern top-end smartphones are already quite expensive – from 1000 to 1200 dollars. “It’s hard to imagine that buyers would be willing to spend much more,” Digital Trends experts commented on the insider. The release of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip is expected in October – most likely, the first flagships based on the new processor will appear before the end of the year.

In mid-May, Google released the second beta version of the Android 15 operating system. It became available to users of Google Pixel, Nothing, Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Vivo smartphones.
