Tarasova assessed in one phrase the desire of Russian figure skaters to change citizenship

Tarasova said that figure skaters Geinish and Chigirev can go anywhere

Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova appreciated the desire of figure skaters Ekaterina Geinish and Dmitry Chigirev to change their sports citizenship. Her words are quoted by Sport24.

Tarasova commented on what was happening with the phrase “let the tenth water on jelly go anywhere.” She added that the Russian team will not lose anything from this, since domestic athletes do not compete in international competitions.

The desire of Gainisch and Chigirev to change their sports citizenship became known earlier on May 21. The couple wants to represent Uzbekistan.

Gainish and Chigirev formed a duet in 2022. Together they were prize-winners of the Moscow Championship, winners of the Moscow Cup stage, and also prize-winners of the Panin-Kolomenkin Memorial. The couple trains under the guidance of coach Nina Moser.

On March 1, 2022, the International Skating Union banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices. Due to sanctions, skaters cannot take part in the World and European Championships, as well as in other international tournaments.
