The Chinese promise a flying car in two years. You will not need a pilot license

The Chinese company Xpeng AeroHT intends to deliver its flying car to customers in 2026. Some will be able to try it out this year. Xpeng AeroHT is a subsidiary of the electric car manufacturer Xpeng.

In 2023, Xpeng AeroHT released the Land Aircraft Carrier, which is a large truck with a flying two-seater electric passenger drone inside. You can disconnect it from the truck, get into a passenger drone and fly it – he reminds. You can see how it works exactly. Now the Chinese company has announced that it will introduce a flying car to the market in two years. What’s more, it will be available for pre-order to selected customers later this year.

Chinese flying car, parks and flight zones

Brian Gu, co-president of Xpeng, explains that the flying car was designed to fly not in the centers of large cities, but on their outskirts, in “scenic areas”. – We will work with municipalities to create special parks and flying zones that will allow people to enjoy such travel without the hassle of having to obtain all the complicated permits – he said.

You will not need a license to fly a car. There is one “but”

Xpeng’s AeroHT flying car is currently undergoing certification by the Chinese aviation regulator. Brian Gu assures that users of such a vehicle will not need a special license to fly, because it will be related to recreation and sports. However, licenses will most likely be needed for people who want to fly closer to cities and not within designated areas. – Obtaining consent here will be much more difficult – said the vice president of Xpeng. In turn, the company’s CEO He Xiaopeng previously told CNBC that robotics and flying cars are part of the company’s long-term goals.
