MacRumors: After Cook joined Apple, the company stopped improving computers
After Tim Cook took over as head of Apple, the corporation stopped improving its computers. This was reported by MacRumors.
The pattern was noticed by an enthusiast from the Mastodon social network, David Schaub. According to him, the last time Apple increased the amount of minimum RAM in Mac computers was in 2012 – to 8 gigabytes. After Tim Cook took over, Apple did not increase its memory capacity again.
Schaub attributed Tim Cook’s leadership to the lack of progress regarding RAM. He noted that since the introduction of the Mac product, Apple has increased the minimum storage capacity by a factor of ten every six years.
MacRumors journalists defended Cook and noted that Apple is focusing on improving processors. Also, the brand’s devices use unified memory, which has better performance than conventional RAM. However, the authors still called Apple’s decision not to increase the minimum memory size in computers controversial.
In mid-April, Apple representatives in an interview with ITHome explained why the corporation continues to produce computers with 8 gigabytes of RAM. According to the company’s specialists, the current amount of memory should be enough for users.
