These are the symptoms of the omicron variant of the coronavirus

The World Health Organization has confirmed that there is robust evidence that people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 or those who were infected in the past they can contract the omicron variant, whose spread is accelerating day by day around the world.

The director general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has assured that the information that is being analyzed on omicron indicates that this variant circulates faster than the previous ones and that “it is probable that those vaccinated and those who have been cured of covid become infected or reinfected.”

In addition, it is about a variant that presents slight changes in terms of symptoms, because infected patients do not present loss of smell or taste as has happened in previous strains of the coronavirus. These are the main symptoms of omicron:

-Fatigue

-Tachycardia

-Fever

-Nasal fluid

-Headache

-Throat pain

-Sneezing

Although it will take time to know the impact of omicron, it is known that vaccines protect against serious disease, hospitalization and death. In addition, the usual tips still apply to this variant as well: mask, hand washing, safety distance and ventilate closed spaces.

Currently, the quarantine that should save a person infected with COVID is 10 days from diagnosis. Once the confinement period has passed, the patient must analyze if they still suffer from any symptoms of COVID and, where appropriate, wait until three days after the resolution of the fever and the clinical picture of this disease.

Therefore, Although the 10 days imposed by the Ministry have elapsed, the patient should stay home until 72 hours have elapsed since the last symptoms, which is when it will be considered that they are no longer infectious.

The Ministry of Health recalls that it will not be necessary to carry out a PCR to lift the isolation or to return to work.
