Apple explained why 8 gigabytes of memory is enough for modern computers
Apple representatives in an interview with ITHome explained why the corporation continues to produce computers with 8 gigabytes of RAM. The material is available on the Chinese media website.
The portal’s journalists asked Apple managers Kate Bergeron and Evan Buse why the company is releasing a Mac with 8 gigabytes of memory. For comparison, many Windows laptop models have at least 16 gigabytes of RAM. Representatives of the American corporation said that modern computers need 8 gigabytes of RAM.
According to Bergeron and Buse, 8 gigabytes of memory is enough for most Mac users – for office work, interacting with the browser and watching videos. Evan Buse emphasized that, for example, the new MacBook Air has a powerful processor that allows you to connect up to two external monitors. Also, using an Apple Silicon processor, a graphics accelerator and a neuromodule, the device can work with artificial intelligence (AI).
In another interview with blogger Lin Yi, Apple marketing chief Bob Borchers said it’s not fair to compare Macs to Windows computers. “In fact, 8 gigabytes on the MacBook Pro M3 is probably similar to 16 gigabytes on other systems. We just use memory much more efficiently,” Borchers assured the blogger.
At the end of December, Apple Mac product marketing manager Gordon Keppel explained why games are not being released for branded computers. According to Keppel, this requires the desire of developers.
