The tunnel from Bolków to Kamienna Góra is 2.3 km long, so it has become the longest non-urban tunnel in Poland. The acceptance of the section of the S3 road on which it is located is scheduled for July 12, and GDDKiA plans to open it by the end of the summer. which introduced readers to the technology behind the tunnel.
The Bolków-Kamienna Góra tunnel has a heated road. What else can fit in it?
The tunnel was packed with technology to ensure the safety of road users. – Several systems and installations ensure the safety of travelers. We test them all. We are currently testing the effectiveness of fire protection systems, Adam Buczyński from Voltar System told “Fakt”.
Heaters were installed in the road on a short section of 25 meters at the entrance to the tunnel. The technology used may be associated with underfloor heating. At minus temperatures, the surface is insulated, which helps avoid slipping.
Another non-standard solution used in the tunnel are thermal imaging cameras and radio wave transmitting systems, which enable listening to the radio while passing through the tunnel. The main purpose of the second of these solutions, however, is the ability to inform road users about the danger. In addition, the system maintains radio communication for rescue services. A fireproof lock has also been installed in the tunnel, which allows access to a smaller tunnel next to it. And every 250 meters there are smaller evacuation passages for people.
More and more tunnels in Poland. Every next one is longer
– This is the longest alpine road tunnel in Poland. There is a 100 m longer tunnel under Warsaw’s Ursynów on the ring road, but it is not drilled into the rock, says Wojciech Nowak, deputy director of the contract for tunnel equipment on the route between Bolków and Kamienna Góra. In recent years, we have been opening a lot of tunnels, including the one on the mentioned route near Ursynów.
Unlocking funds from the KPO allowed for the launch of investment in the railway tunnel between Męciny and Mordarka.
