It has started. The army calls in specialists. The first people receive mobilization assignments

The first drafts of the army went to IT specialists, including: programmers and drone operators – they are given mobilization assignments and mobilization cards – reports the portal. When it comes to the request to assign an assignment, such a person is granted an excused absence from work without the right to remuneration. Then the employee who was placed in the reserve may be called up for mandatory military exercises, which may last from two to 30 days.

A person called up to the army is entitled to compensation for lost earnings

If a person called up for military service is employed under an employment contract or mandate contract, he or she is entitled to compensation for the earnings lost during this time. Its amount is set at the lowest national level applicable in the previous year, i.e. in 2023. When determining it, the actual amount of earnings of the person requested by the army is irrelevant. The HR expert interviewed by Bankier emphasizes that in the case of some employees – depending on their hourly rate – a person called to appear at the recruitment center may lose up to several hundred zlotys. Let us remind you that an employee mobilization assignment is a personal assignment during peacetime of an employee employed in a military unit or another employer or another designated by the WKU to an employee position specified in the full-time job of a military unit for the duration of war.

Who will be called up to the army in 2024 and take part in exercises?

This year, the Ministry of National Defense wants to call up twice as many active reserve soldiers. The ministry also plans to train up to 200,000. reserve soldiers and continue to increase the number of Territorial Defense Forces soldiers – the portal reports. The Ministry emphasizes that a very small percentage of those summoned for exercises will be those who have not previously undergone military training. Calls to military exercises this year will mainly concern people who have already been assigned mobilization assignments. It is worth recalling that the number of approx. 200,000 reserve soldiers intended for exercises also appeared in previous years, i.e. in 2022 and 2023.
