The Verge: Basic MacBook Air 3 may not have enough memory
Foreign IT publications have begun publishing the first reviews of the new Apple MacBook Air laptop. The corresponding material also appeared on The Verge website.
The authors of the publication stated that the new device differs slightly from previous generation computers that received an M2 processor. However, the new M3 processor has become more powerful, the SSD drive has been sped up, and the microphone and Wi-Fi have been improved. Also, you can now connect two external monitors to the laptop at once, whereas the M2 models worked with only one.
At the same time, the basic version of the MacBook Air is still available with 8 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of internal memory. According to journalists, this configuration may not be enough, while you will have to pay extra for 16 gigabytes of RAM and 512 gigabytes of internal memory.
In addition, journalists noted that the MacBook Air cannot be used to run professional applications. “Because the MacBook Air is passively cooled, there is nothing that can prevent the processor from slowing down,” the authors emphasized.
Apple introduced the new generation of MacBook Air on the M3 chip in early March. The company said that the presented models are based on the M3 processor, which is 60 percent more powerful than the M1 chip.
