MacRumors: Apple recognizes iPhone 6 Plus as an obsolete device

Apple has added the iPhone 6 Plus smartphone to the list of obsolete devices. This was reported by MacRumors.

The device was declared obsolete around the world. This means that the company’s service centers and partners will no longer serve gadget users. Typically, devices are considered obsolete if more than seven years have passed since the sale ceased.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus devices were introduced in the fall of 2014. However, the base iPhone 6 model is still not on the list of obsolete smartphones, since its sales ended later. Deliveries and sales of iPhone 6 Plus stopped in September 2016. Software support for the 6 Plus ended back in 2019. Then Apple released the latest version of iOS for the smartphone.

Journalists noticed that Apple also stopped servicing the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, which were introduced in 2017. However, we are only talking about red devices released as part of the (PRODUCT)RED charity campaign.

At the beginning of March, Apple discontinued the MacBook Air based on the Apple Silicon chip. The device, released at the end of 2020, turned out to be the first Apple computer based on a proprietary processor.
