AT&T is one of the largest telecommunications companies in the United States. Its wireless 5G network covers approximately 290 million people across the country. On Saturday (March 30), the company announced that it was investigating a data leak that occurred two weeks ago. According to preliminary findings, information about up to 73 million customers could have been leaked, he informs.

Sensitive data of AT&T customers was to appear in the so-called dark web – an invisible part of the Internet that cannot be accessed through standard search engines and is often associated with illegal activities. So far, it has been confirmed that the information of approximately 7.6 million active users and 65.4 million former customers was affected by the leak. AT&T estimates that the disclosed data set dates back to 2019 at the latest. The company has not yet found evidence of unauthorized access to information. It is not known whether the data came from the company itself or from one of its partner providers.
