The authors stated that they confirmed leaks from authoritative insider Tom Henderson about the future most powerful Sony console. In their opinion, PS5 Pro will cost at least $599, or about 55 thousand rubles. Digital Foundry specialists noted that the increase in the cost of the console will be associated with a new processor and an improved cooling unit.
Describing the characteristics of the console, the authors said that the device will be released with an AMD Zen 2 processor with a frequency of up to 3800 megahertz, an RNDA 3 graphics processor with 60 computing units and 16 gigabytes of GDDR6 memory. For comparison, the current PlayStation 5 has a processor with a frequency of up to 3500 megahertz and a graphics processor with 36 computing units.
In conclusion, experts admitted that they do not know whether there is an urgent need for a new console. Most likely, the PS5 Pro will be aimed at 8K TVs and monitors, but the popularity of such equipment among gamers is low. “Even with large screens, 4K resolution is more than enough,” experts emphasized.
The PlayStation 5 Pro is expected to be released at the end of the year. The base PlayStation 5 was released in November 2020.
