Android Authority: Samsung will release a cheap foldable smartphone without a stylus
South Korean corporation Samsung will present an affordable folding smartphone. Android Authority reports this.
The device should be released in the summer. According to insiders, the company is preparing two versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 – the classic flagship and a cheaper model. The affordable option will differ from the expensive one in the lack of support for working with a stylus.
Specialists from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) suggested that in this way the corporation will be able to save a little on the production of a folding device. However, the price difference between the flagship and the affordable device is not disclosed. “We assume that the cheaper version will also have other compromises to justify the price reduction,” media journalists noted.
Samsung is now selling the Galaxy Z Fold 5 for $1,799, or about 165 thousand rubles. The foldable device has stylus support, but it is not included in the package. This device differs from the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which has a stylus and a separate hole in the case for storing the accessory.
At the end of February, ZTE announced the Libero Flip folding phone in Japan for $420. The device is considered the most affordable smartphone with a foldable display on the market.
