The Elec: iPhone 17 and 17 Plus will have a screen with support for high frame rates
Apple is about to add high frame rate screens to basic smartphones. This was reported by the Korean publication The Elec.
According to sources, all Apple smartphones planned for 2025 will have a low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) display. Only flagship Apple devices receive such front panels: for example, in the current line of smartphones, only the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are equipped with them.
The material says that LTPO displays support frequency updating up to 120 hertz, which allows the picture to be displayed on the screen with maximum smoothness. According to media journalists, support for 120 hertz is a long-awaited feature for users of low-cost Apple smartphones, which are limited to 60 hertz. The iPhone 17 and 17 Plus will also likely have Always On Display support.
Insiders said that the supply of such displays will be carried out by BOE. If the company can provide the required number of screens, then by 2025 Apple will equip all its smartphones with them.
At the end of February, Apple announced the creation of a new encryption standard for the iMessage messenger. The PQ3 standard will be able to protect correspondence from hacker attacks based on quantum computing.
