ZTE announces $420 Libero Flip phone in Japan

ZTE has unveiled an affordable foldable smartphone in Japan. This was reported in a press release on the SoftBank website.

The device was developed by the Chinese ZTE together with Y!mobile, which is a subsidiary of the Japanese corporation SoftBank. The device is called the cheapest device with a flexible display on the market. The device was priced at $420, or about 39 thousand rubles, but during the collection of pre-orders the smartphone will cost $265. The device will go on sale on February 29.

The announced device received a clamshell form factor and a 6.9-inch main display with a resolution of 2790×1188 pixels. On the outside of the smartphone there is an additional 1.43-inch diagonal screen. It is reported that reference information is displayed on it.

Libero Flip received a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, 6 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of internal memory. The device came out with a main camera that received lenses with a resolution of 50 and 2 megapixels. The device has a battery with a capacity of 4310 milliamp-hours, moisture protection according to the IP42 standard, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC. It is unknown whether the ZTE foldable smartphone will hit the global market.

At the end of February, Chinese insiders said that Apple had suspended the development and production of the first foldable iPhone. The reason given was the low quality of the developed prototype.
