Bloomberg: Apple’s oldest designer leaves the company after 30 years
Industrial designer Bart Andre, who was involved in the creation of many of the brand’s gadgets, has left Apple. Bloomberg reports this.
According to columnist Mark Gurman, Andre joined the Apple team in 1992, when the design division was headed by Jony Ive. Under the leadership of Steve Jobs, the specialist worked on many products – he is considered one of the creators of the iPhone and various versions of Mac computers.
“His mark on Apple products is indelible—I see it in detail every day,” former Apple engineer Christopher Stringer told Bloomberg. After more than 30 years since joining the company, the oldest designer at the American IT giant will retire.
According to Mark Gurman, thus, there are almost no specialists left at Apple who worked with Jony Ive. The design department is now overseen by the corporation’s chief operating officer, Jeff Williams. According to Gurman, some employees are dissatisfied with the fact that a person who does not understand the issue is responsible for the direction.
At the end of 2023, designer Tan Tan, also considered one of the creators of the iPhone, left Apple. The specialist went to LoveFrom, a company founded by former Apple lead designer Jony Ive.
