Samsung TVs will lose an important feature

GizmoChina: Google Assistant will be removed from Samsung TVs on March 1

Samsung will disable Google’s voice assistant on all its TVs. This was reported by GizmoChina.

Media journalists got acquainted with the updated agreement for the use of branded TVs of the brand. The material states that from March 1, 2024, the Google Assistant voice assistant will be removed from all smart TVs. The rule will apply to both new devices and used TVs.

Samsung added a voice assistant for the first time in the 2020 model year. Currently, the virtual assistant is available in devices manufactured in 2020-2022, Crystal UHD, Lifestyle, QLED models. The corporation did not specify for what reasons the TVs will be deprived of one of the important functions.

Journalists noted that almost all major TV manufacturers – LG, Sony, TCL and Hisense – continue to support Google Assistant. According to the authors, starting in the spring, users of Samsung gadgets will be forced to use other voice assistants.

In December 2023, Dutch consumer advocates sued Samsung. The reason was the corporation’s pressure on retailers from 2013 to 2018, due to which brand TVs were sold in stores not below a certain price threshold.
