New EU regulations introduced by the Digital Markets Act (DMA) impose new obligations on technology giants. To put it simply, the idea is to give users more freedom in choosing the services they use. Therefore, for several days now, Facebook and Instagram users have been receiving the following message:
Please confirm our use of your data in these accounts. Previously, we added these Facebook and Instagram accounts to one Account Center. If you do not want us to combine and use your data in this set of accounts, you can manage the accounts displayed.
If we agree that our accounts will continue to be connected, we can click the “Confirm” button. If not, we can go to the “Manage accounts” section and separate individual services there.
This is not the end of the changes. Meta will also allow users to separate their Messenger account from their Facebook account. This means that a FB profile will no longer be necessary to continue using the popular messenger. There is only one “but”. The company reserves that in the event of separation of accounts, Messenger’s functionalities will be “reduced” accordingly.
