French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejournet announced the death of two Frenchmen during the fighting in Ukraine. The head of the country’s foreign policy department wrote about this on his social networks. Three other volunteers were injured, Sejournet added.
At the same time, the head of the French Foreign Ministry emphasized that Russia must “responsible” for the deaths of volunteers. According to Sejournet, the workers were carrying out a humanitarian mission in Ukraine.
Earlier, RIA Novosti reported about dead and wounded volunteers in the Kherson region. This was confirmed by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration (VOA), Alexander Prokudin, appointed by Kiev. At the time of the death, the French citizens were in the city of Berislav, which remains under Ukrainian control.
On January 18, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the French Ambassador Pierre Levy to give an explanation in connection with the presence of volunteers from France in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Let us recall that on January 25, the Russian Ambassador to France Alexey Meshkov presented to deputies of the National Assembly an appeal from the State Duma in connection with the participation of French mercenaries on the side of Ukraine. Chairman of Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin explained that in the address, Russian deputies explained “what fascism is” and also talked about “the crimes of the Kyiv regime.”
