TechCrunch: Apple fixed vulnerability in Vision Pro glasses
Apple has acknowledged the presence of a critical vulnerability in the Vision Pro headset. This was reported by TechCrunch.
The corporation has released VisionOS 1.0.2 software update for augmented reality glasses. In it, Apple experts fixed a vulnerability associated with WebKit, the browser engine that powers Safari and other web applications. The company’s materials say that the vulnerability made it possible to execute malicious code on augmented reality glasses.
TechCrunch authors noted that this is the same vulnerability that Apple previously fixed in the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV by releasing the iOS 17.3 update. It is not clear whether the hackers exploited the vulnerability in Vision Pro specifically. Apple spokesman Scott Radcliffe did not respond to TechCrunch’s request for comment.
According to media experts, attackers often use weaknesses in WebKit to penetrate the device’s underlying operating system and steal user personal data. In 2023, Apple released several patches to fix WebKit issues.
At the end of January, leading IT publications and bloggers published the first reviews of Vision Pro. The authors generally praised the device, but criticized it for its high cost.
