Specifically, this concerns the fee for “maintaining your number in the network” introduced in 2022. Orange collected it from people who did not call or send text messages from their prepaid number. Now, however, he has announced that he will waive the fee.
Orange removes one of the fees. Customers will save PLN 60 per year
The orange operator announced that from February 26 this year. the fee will be completely withdrawn in the Orange Free pre-paid, IoT pre-paid, Ekstra Number and Always unlimited tariffs. At the same time, in one of the announcements, Orange Poland announced that downloads for this reason had been suspended a week ago – on January 24 this year.
The fee was not high, as it amounted to a maximum of PLN 5 every 31 days. It was collected from people who did not perform any operation on their account within 31 days – i.e. an outgoing call, sending an SMS/MMS, did not connect to the Internet, did not purchase an added service or a package – until the account expired.
The fee for “maintaining the number in the network” was charged automatically from the funds available on the account of a given number (if the customer had less than PLN 5 on the card, Orange charged the entire available amount). Moreover, the active “Account valid for one year” promotion did not exempt you from paying the fee.
The fee was controversial because it constantly charged customers who used the prepaid phone irregularly, treating it, for example, as a backup phone number. Introducing such a payment, the operator explained that subscribers who do not accept the changes can cancel the pre-paid service at any time without additional fees. Many customers should therefore be happy about the recently announced change. Savings due to the abolition of the controversial expense will range from a few to even PLN 60 per year.
