The Metropolitan Control Agency (AMC) has ordered six closure precautions of companies selling meat products without having the Metropolitan License for the Exercise of Economic Activity (LUAE), or abusing it, in the food sector. Metropolitan Camal of Quito.

The municipality indicates that as a result of these inspections, the Metropolitan Enterprise of Rastro and Agrocalidad seized 1,818 pieces of meat product (beef feet) that did not have the documentation justifying their origin.

This seizure was carried out with the aim of protecting consumer health and guaranteeing the quality of meat products available on the market.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the Metropolitan Rastro Company, Agrocalidad, Quitumbe Zonal Administration, Metropolitan Control Agent Corps, the National Police and the Metropolitan Transit Agency.

In 2023, the AMC initiated 83 administrative sanction processes for LUAE and ordered the closure of 15 establishments dedicated to marketing meat products. So far this year, 15 commencement orders have been issued and six closures ordered.

The municipality indicates that it will strengthen the articulated work with the aim of guaranteeing that food products distributed in Quito meet the safety standards necessary for human consumption. (JO)
