Samsung Inexpensive Foldable Smartphone Revealed

The Elec: Samsung will release an inexpensive version of the foldable Galaxy Z Fold in 2024

The South Korean corporation Samsung has planned the release of an affordable foldable smartphone in 2024. This was reported by the Korean publication The Elec.

From the disclosed data, it follows that the company intends to introduce an affordable folding phone in the second half of 2024. The device will be an inexpensive version of the Galaxy Z Fold, a smartphone-tablet whose first model appeared in 2019.

Experts called the main reason for the release of a cheap folding device the high competition in the Chinese market, which is imposed by local manufacturers. The latter are ready to present flagship folding devices that are noticeably cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models.

At the same time, the company is not going to develop an affordable version of the Galaxy Z Flip clamshell. Experts at The Elec believe that the model is sufficiently established on the market and does not need a cheap modification.

In July 2023, the head of Samsung Mobile T.M. Roh said his company will “take a leap” in foldable device pricing. Digit journalists suggested that in this way the Korean corporation hinted at the release of cheap foldable smartphones in the future.
