“I am pansexual and 100 percent a bullfighter”: Madrid-born Mario Alcalde breaks stereotypes and his silence

“I am a bullfighter who follows his own pace more. My taste is not normal in bullfighting (…) I am pansexual.” This is how the bullfighter Mario Alcalde, born 31 years ago in Madrid, presented himself in Spain, or rather defined himself, in an interview with El Mundo.

What does it mean to be pansexual?

The term pansexual ‘is composed of the prefix pan, meaning all, and the word sexuality.’ It can be understood – El Universo published in June 2023 – “as a sexual identity in which one is attracted to people of all genders, beyond the male and female parameters.
