Bloomberg: Samsung will add a blood sugar monitor to its gadgets
Future Samsung gadgets should add a monitor that detects blood sugar levels. Bloomberg reports this with reference to Hong Pak, head of mobile healthcare at Samsung.
According to the specialist, the Korean corporation intends to create a non-invasive glucometer – a device that allows you to analyze blood sugar levels without puncturing the skin. “If we can continuously measure blood pressure and glucose levels, we will change the game,” Park emphasized.
A Samsung executive estimates that the non-invasive glucose monitoring device could be on the market in one form or another within five years. “We’re looking at all options, from miniaturization to different technology platforms that can do some glucose monitoring or something in between,” Park said.
Hong Park also admitted that users want a smart device that will analyze health indicators without distracting people from their worries. He also hinted that the Galaxy Ring, which Samsung announced in mid-January, may receive similar functions in the future.
Bloomberg noted that one of Samsung’s competitors, Apple, is also exploring the possibility of creating a non-invasive glucometer. In 2021, rumors appeared that the American company would add a similar monitor to the Apple Watch.
