91mobiles: HMD will release smartphones to replace Nokia in April
In April, HMD Global, which owns the rights to the Nokia brand, will release new smartphones. This was reported by 91mobiles.
Two devices from HMD were spotted in the IMEI database back in December 2023. Later, insiders revealed information that the first device on the market will be aimed at the general consumer and, thus, will replace inexpensive Nokia smartphones, which HMD has already refused to release.
Nokia’s successor has a plastic body with a matte finish and will feature a dual camera and HMD logo on the back panel. Apparently, the device will have an IPS display and a selfie camera located in the screen hole, the power and volume buttons will be located on the right side of the device.
Experts spoke about another registered smartphone. However, this device may turn out to be a different version of the first device. According to insiders, the first smartphone under the HMD brand will go on sale in India in April.
Earlier it became known that the Chinese company HMD Global, which owns the rights to the Nokia brand, will stop producing devices under this brand. The company received the rights to the Nokia brand in 2016, and the agreement on trademark rights will expire in 2025.
