MacRumors: Apple will pay compensation to users of defective iPhone 7
Apple has agreed to pay compensation to owners of smartphones with sound problems. This was reported by MacRumors.
In 2023, company representatives reached an agreement with users who filed a class action lawsuit related to a defect in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The corporation decided to pay $35 million in compensation, which Apple began notifying customers about in mid-January.
The problem was related to the microphone not working during phone calls; it was called “Loop Disease” online. Under the agreement, users of older smartphones can expect a payment of between $125 and $350, depending on the circumstances.
According to journalists, to receive the payment, the user must have owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between September 16, 2016 and January 3, 2023. He must also be a US resident. The authors concluded that such a settlement can be considered a victory for iPhone users, since Apple has ignored the problem of its smartphones for years.
At the end of December, Apple agreed to pay $30 to users who may have been harmed by branded advertising for its services. The advertising may have misled consumers.
