The permit was granted by the Judicial division of the courts and tribunals of Englandan entity that’s over 1000 years old and all that supports the use of artificial intelligence in the production and advice of judicial decisions.

This decision has sparked controversy, as artificial intelligence still does not create enough trust to be trusted with a ruling in a lawsuit, something that could impact a person’s life in multiple ways.

OpenAI bans the use of its ChatGPT artificial intelligence for election campaigns worldwide

For this reason, the Judiciary has developed a manual that judges must follow as a protocol when working with AI.

“The guide is the first step in a series of future work proposed to support the judiciary in its interactions with AI. All work will be revised as technology continues to develop” the report states.

The second highest judge in England and Wales, Master of the Rolls Jeffrey Foxindicated that judges must take full personal responsibility for everything produced by artificial intelligence and must ensure the trust of citizens.

Some guidelines that the judges have are:

In principle, judges can turn to artificial intelligence chatbots to search for information or help them write texts, but not to receive legal advice or make judicial decisions.

And the judge in charge of a case will, if appropriate, bear the consequences of misuse of this technology. (JO)
