Here are the best games of 2023. Baldur’s Gate 3? High. There could only be one winner

It was a good year in the world of games, and perhaps one of the best in the history of electronic entertainment. Over the last 12 months, we have witnessed many highly anticipated premieres. And although the task was not easy, I chose for you the productions that made the greatest impression on me.

5. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (PS5)

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the third (after “the first one” and “Miles Morales”) installment of the adventures of Spider-Man from the Insomniac studio. I admit that when I received the first information about this project, I was afraid that the material would be “tired”. Fortunately, I was wrong.

The new Spider-Man is an almost perfect sequel. Bigger, more interesting, and at the same time offering a more mature plot. The creators have perfected the well-known and proven gameplay formula, and traversing virtual New York in the skin of not one, but two arachnids has never been so satisfying.

4. Super Mario Bros Wonder (NS)

If there’s one game company that can reinvent the wheel, it’s Nintendo. The new reinterpretation of the adventures of two Italian plumbers is the best proof that even after 40 years after the premiere of the first Super Mario Bros., the Japanese still have their heads full of fantastic ideas.

Each single level in Wonder contains a lot of surprises and surprises, thanks to the so-called Miraculous Flowers, i.e. new power-ups that change the gameplay in a completely unpredictable way. Nintendo’s game will keep you glued to the screen for hours.

3. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom of the Wild (PS5, XSX, PC)

“The Phantom of Freedom” is both a thorough spy thriller and a story about past mistakes and an attempt at redemption. These topics resonate to some extent with the situation in which CD Projekt itself found itself after the premiere of “Cyberpunk 2077”.

I don’t know if the Reds themselves treat this project as a kind of catharsis, but I know one thing: It’s the best possible culmination of V’s story and a farewell to the world that the creators will soon abandon for some time. At least until work on the Orion project, the sequel to Cyberpunk, begins. “The Phantom of Freedom” impresses with its atmosphere, scope and engaging plot.

2. Baldur’s Gate 3 (PS5, XSX, PC)

The Swedes from Larian Studios have already proven with the Divinity: Original Sin series that they are absolute masters of creating pure isometric RPGs. However, taking on such a classic as the iconic Baldur’s Gate was a challenge of a completely different caliber. Sven Vicke’s team met this challenge. In fact, the end result exceeded my wildest expectations.

Baldur’s Gate III impresses with its scale, perfectly refined gameplay systems, full-blooded characters and a multitude of choices for the player. Suffice it to say that the script of the new Baldur is 2 million words long and contains more dialogues than the entire Lord of the Rings book trilogy.

1. Alan Wake 2 (PS5, XSX, PC)

I must admit that I have been waiting for this game for 12 years, i.e. since the premiere of the first installment of the adventures of a writer trapped in the labyrinth of his work. I expected that Sam Lake, one of the most outstanding figures in the world of gaming, was preparing an extraordinary work. However, I was not prepared for what Alan Wake II served me.

It is difficult to describe this game in a few sentences, because the work of the Remedy studio defies any boundaries. It is at the same time a detective thriller, a thoroughbred horror, and a moment later… a musical. It’s both a video game, a book and a movie. Above all, it is an extraordinary audiovisual feast.

This title will be talked about not for months, but for years, as it sets new standards for the entire industry. There was no other option. The title of the best game of this year goes to Alan Wake II.
