Russian space company Roscosmos has confirmed the extension until 2025 of the agreement with NASA on mixed crewed flights to the International Space Station (ISS).
“We have reached an agreement with our American partners to continue cruise flights until 2025″Roscosmos noted in a statement, quoted by Sputnik.
The entity specified that in July and December this year, two annexes were signed to the agreement on cruise flights involving the travel of American astronauts in the Russian Soyuz MS spacecraft and of Russian cosmonauts in the American space vehicles.
In November, Roscosmos’ director of manned programs, Sergei Krikaliov, announced that the two space entities had agreed to extend the cruise flight agreement, Europa Press reports.
The first crossover flight took place in September 2022, when American astronaut Frank Rubio flew aboard the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft to the International Space Station.
Two weeks later, Russian cosmonaut Anna Kíkina traveled to the orbital platform on a Crew Dragon. In March 2023, Russian Andrei Fedyaev returned to Earth on an American ship and was relieved by Konstantin Borisov on the Crew Dragon.
The Soyuz MS-25 crewed mission and another American Crew Dragon spacecraft are scheduled to launch in mid-2024. (JO)
