Wccftech: Sales of almost all Apple Watches may be banned in the US due to patents
American authorities will have the opportunity to almost completely ban sales of Apple smartwatches in the country. This was reported by Wccftech.
Media journalists recalled that at the end of December, following a complaint from Masimo, new models of Apple watches were withdrawn from sale in the United States. According to experts, there is a fairly high probability that sales of other wearable devices of the American brand will be limited in the country.
The material states that not only Masimo claimed the theft of its patents. In 2021, AliveCor asked the US International Trade Commission (USITC) to ban the sale of Apple Watch due to Apple’s infringement of a patent related to ECG operation. Wccftech specialists said that if the USITC ultimately takes the side of AliveCor, then sales of all Apple watches with ECG support will be banned.
Representatives of the company said that in 2015 they demonstrated to Tim Cook Corporation the operation of an ECG strap intended for smart watches. In 2018, the IT giant released Apple Watch 4, which received ECG support. The only Apple device that does not support this feature is the Apple Watch SE.
Earlier, JP Morgan analysts said that Apple would lose billions of dollars due to a ban on the sale of Apple Watch. However, it is unknown whether the company will be able to resolve the patent dispute.
