Behind the takeover of TVP Info’s Facebook accounts is a group of IT specialists from the state television, which secured access to the public broadcaster’s social media. The decision to take over the accounts was made by one of the directors, he writes.

As we read, the group of profile administrators has removed, among others: deputy head of the Television Information Agency Samuel Pereira, head of the Interactive Media editorial office of the Television Information Agency Daniel Liszkiewicz and TVP journalist Rafał Jarząbka. The website explains that the TVP Info profile on the X platform is still controlled by Samuel Pereira. The previous authorities of public television also control access to the TVP Parliament website.
In turn, it is reported unofficially that several important TVP employees have been in contact with the team preparing the TV takeover for a long time. “For several days, rumors have been circulating among some politicians of the new majority that the new team is in contact with former president Mateusz Matyszkowicz, who actually gave up without a fight after the new head of the company’s supervisory board entered the television headquarters,” we read. According to the portal, the plan was kept strictly secret – the final decisions on the shape and methods of changes were made over the weekend, and a very small group of people were involved in the entire process.

The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage announced changes to the public media authorities on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the president of the Polish Press Agency, Wojciech Surmacz, the president of Telewizja Polska, Mateusz Matyszkowicz, and the president of Polish Radio, Agnieszka Kamińska, were dismissed. The supervisory boards of these companies were also dismissed. Minister of Culture Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz appointed new councils, which in turn appointed new management boards. Paweł Majcher became the new president of Polish Radio, Tomasz Sygut – of Polish Television, and Marek Błoński – of the Polish Press Agency.
On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. TVP news program was hosted by Marek Czyż, and former TVN journalist Paweł Płuska is to head the editorial office of the new “Wiadomości”. At the TVP headquarters in Woronicza, as part of a protest against changes in public media, appeared, among others: employees of Telewizja Polska and PiS parliamentarians.
The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage explained the decision to cancel today. “The necessity for this type of action and the justification were determined by the resolution of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland of December 19, 2023 on the restoration of legal order, as well as the impartiality and reliability of the public media and the Polish Press Agency,” we read in the ministry’s letter.
It is further indicated that “the security issued by the Constitutional Tribunal to Julia Przyłębska on December 14, 2023, in accordance with the written position issued by the State Treasury Attorney General’s Office as the body that represents the legal interests of the State Treasury, is legally ineffective and in no way binds or Minister of Culture and National Heritage, nor new Management Boards or Supervisory Boards of Companies.
