Yes, there is a news search function, but it requires us to enter a specific keyword and does not always work precisely. Moreover, Facebook Messenger users also struggle with the same problem.
WhatsApp with a useful new feature. A calendar appeared in the search engine
The creators of WhatsApp are aware of this problem and decided to introduce a solution to the application that will – at least partially – help solve it. This new feature has just appeared in the Android version of WhatsApp, although for now only in the beta version – as reported by Android Police.
In the message search engine, both in group and individual chats, there is now a calendar function that allows us to easily search conversations from a given period. If we want to go back to the news from July 2022, we no longer have to scroll through the conversation for several minutes. Just click the calendar icon and then select the appropriate date.
For now, it is not known when the new feature will leave beta testing and reach the stable version of WhatsApp. Perhaps this will happen before the New Year. We can also hope that this solution will soon be transferred to other applications of the Meta group, including the mentioned Messenger.
WhatsApp will allow you to hide secret conversations. You won’t see them without the password
In early December, WhatsApp introduced a new chat lock feature. It allows you to password-lock conversations that no one else should see. Users can set an independent password for each conversation and it can be different from the phone lock code. Interestingly, each of these passwords may contain not only letters, numbers and special characters, but even emoticons.
Chat lock automatically hides incoming notifications within a blocked conversation so that someone looking at the phone screen cannot read the received message. Additionally, WhatsApp will allow you to hide the safe folder so that it is not visible from the conversation list.
